We have all witnessed the scenes of the London Marathon when some of the entrants are only finishing the event this week, despite starting out on the run on Sunday, April 22. Their reason? Because they are recovering from serious medical conditions or physical disability to make their way round the route. To them this was their Everest, overcoming incalculable odds to some one stride in front of another not only over the course of a mile but over the entire marathon distance of over 26 miles.
