A well-known member of the community, Mrs. Lily Boyd, late of Derrin Road, Enniskillen, the widow of Reginald Boyd, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at the Erne Hospital on January 2, 2012, aged 93 years.

Formerly Lily Dunwoody, she was born in Rosslea and her family moved to Fivemiletown when she was a child. Following her education at school in Fivemiletown, she started work in Montgomery's shop in Fivemiletown.

In 1939, she married her childhood sweetheart Reggie Boyd, who predeceased her in 1977. They initially made their home with his mother and father who had a small commercial hotel in Fivemiletown, where she worked. Reggie was a bus inspector with the former UTA and the couple who had one daughter Audrey moved to Enniskillen in 1953 and settled in Derrin Road.

Following her move to Enniskillen, Lily worked in Taylor Woods as a supervisor and then she went to Standard Telephones, from where she retired.

She had been a very keen gardener, baker and homemaker. She loved socialising and liked travelling around Fermanagh and Donegal. She continued to drive until two years ago. A fashion conscious woman, she had been a jolly figure and is remembered for her very jovial temperament.

Her three grandchildren, Tanya, Cheryl and Alard were a source of much pleasure to Lily, who also had nine great grandchildren: Boyd, Tori-Beth, Joshua, Christopher, Adam, Nathan, Alexander, Abigail and Ashley.

Her funeral service at St. Macartin's Cathedral, Enniskillen was conducted by The Very Rev. Kenneth R. J. Hall, Dean of the Diocese of Clogher and rector of Enniskillen Cathedral Parish. The hymns were How Great Thou Art, The Lord is My Shepherd, and Safe in the Arms of Jesus. Burial was in St. John's Parish Churchyard, Fivemiletown.

Lily is survived by her daughter, Audrey, and son-in-law, Colin; her granddaughters Tanya and Nigel and Cheryl and Richard and her grandson, Alard and Michelle.

She leaves her nine great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Betty, nieces and nephews and the wider family circle. She was predeceased by her husband, Reggie and by her two brothers, George and Tommy.

The funeral arrangements were by funeral directors, F. Dowler Ltd., Lisnaskea.
