Mr. Robert John Henry Gault

A much-loved husband and devoted father and grandfather, Robert John Henry Gault, known as Robin, passed away peacefully at the Erne Hospital on January 22, 2012. He was 73-years-old.

Born on March 15, 1938, he was the third child of the late James and Margaret Gault, Mullaghy.

Following his education he started work in William Armstrong's shop, Florencecourt, and then Northern Ireland Railway's where he held the position of Acting Station Master before moving on to Northern Ireland Electricity Board until his retirement.

He met the former Ruth McCrea and they were married and were blessed with three children, Maureen, Linda and Robert,

Although Robin doted on his wife and children his next great passion was darts.

He was a former captain of The Silver Swallow darts team and in later years played for The Village Inn.

In his memory a minute's silence was observed at the commencement of the darts match on Tuesday last.

He was a great socialiser and travelled with the darts both North and South of the border, making many friends over the years.

Robin was well-known for his gentle nature and everyone remarked and loved his soft smile.

He loved Portrush and especially the North West Motorbike races. Again, Robin could be found chatting along the way to everyone and anyone.

He just loved people and had time for everyone he met. He also held his grandchildren very dearly to his heart and loved spending time with them all. They will sorely miss him.

Robin dealt with his illness courageously and with dignity and appreciated all the care he received.

The funeral which was largely attended took place from his home to Rossorry Parish Church on January 24, 2012.

The service was conducted by Rev, Arthur Barrett, assisted by Rev. Stephanie Woods. The hymns were "Rock of Ages", "On a Hill Far Away" and "One More Step Along The World I Go". The Bible readings were read by his grand-daughter Natalie and niece, Sylvia Dean.

Robin is survived by his wife, Ruth, daughters Maureen (Leslie), Linda, son Robert (Paula), brother Willie, sister Peggy, grandchildren and wider family circle. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard in 2009.

The funeral arrangements were by Austen Stinson and staff of WT Morrison, Darling Street, Enniskillen.

Donations in lieu if desired to Cancer Research, c/o Morrisons.
