Clogher Pedestrian crossing operational in weeks
The Roads Service has confirmed that the new puffin type pedestrian crossing in Clogher will become operational in a few weeks.
Ulster Unionist Party MLA, Tom Elliott has said: "This is an issue which Councillor Robert Mulligan has been campaigning for many years and the residents of Clogher will welcome this development who for years with increased traffic flow through Clogher found it extremely difficult to cross the busy Main Street. At last we have found a suitable site and received agreement from residents and businesses on the siting of the new crossing at Main Street which will be of tremendous benefit to pedestrians and motorist alike.
"I understand from Roads Service that 95% of work is now complete and it only remains for NIE to connect the power to this new state of the art "Puffin Pedestrian crossing" which incorporates a pedestrian detection which is used to automatically vary the pedestrian period, giving the pedestrians the time they need to cross the Main Street."
