Fermanagh make it two out of two
London 0-09; Fermanagh 2-15
Fermanagh secured a second successive victory in Allianz NFL Division Four with a 2-15 to 0-09 win over London in Ruislip today.
Peter Canavan's side produced a fine opening half that saw them build up a 1-09 to 0-05 lead at the break, full forward Seamus Quigley providing the goal from the penalty spot.
And Fermanagh more-or-less put the game to bed early in the second half as they quickly tagged on three points to open up a ten point lead.
The Exiles did respond with four unanswered points but Ryan Keenan slotted home Fermanagh's second goal in the 67th minute to guarantee the Ernemen would return home with the points in the bag.
Fermanagh came flying out of the blocks at the outset with Seamus Quigley landing a '45 in the opening minute as the away side went on to dominate the early stages.
Peter Canavan's side had managed to build up a 0-05 to 0-00 lead with 15 minutes on the clock.
Quigley and Paul Ward notched points before Sean Quigley fisted over following a flowing move that started with full back Barry Owens.
Tomas Corrigan then chipped in with a point as Fermanagh made their dominance tell before the Exiles finally opened their account through Sean Hannon.
This heralded London's best spell of the half with the impressive Mark Gottsche lofting over their second score.
Conor Quigley did tag on a point for the Ernemen but Eoin O'Neill and Gottsche made it a two point game ten minutes before the break.
However, Fermanagh regained the upperhand in the period before half time as Eoin Donnelly and Barry Mulrone added to their tally before Seamus Quigley bagged the crucial score of the half.
Paul Ward was dragged down as he made his way in on goal resulting in a penalty which Quigley slots into the bottom right hand corner to push Fermanagh seven clear.
Quigley and O'Neill then traded points but at the break Fermanagh were in control, 1-09 to 0-05.
And the lead was increased on the restart as Paul Ward clipped over a free and Seamus Quigley and Shane Lyons also tagged on scores to make it 1-12 to 0-05.
London, though, never let their heads drop and they controlled things to rattle over four points in a row from Sean Kelly, Sean McVeigh, Kelly again and Francis Niblock which saw them reduce the deficit to six points with seven minutes left to play.
Fermanagh, however, were not about to throw this one away and half backs Conor Quigley and Mulrone knocked over their second points of the encounter before substitute Ryan Keenan accounted for Fermanagh's second goal of the contest three minutes from time, rifling home from 21 yards.
Seamus Quigley then slotted over a close in free to wrap up the scoring and make it two wins out of two for Canavan's charges in NFL Division Four.
