An 18-year-old man was given three chances by "those f--king pricks" from the PSNI and has now been given a last chance by Deputy District Judge Neil Rafferty.

Kalem Simon Patrick Dorrian, who was in breach of a suspended prison sentence, admitted being disorderly and was fined £200.

A prosecutor told Fermanagh Court that around 2am on Saturday, August 6, last year, police were called to investigate criminal damage at Drumbawn in Enniskillen. They were approached on three occasions by Dorrian, of Derrin Park, Cornagrade, Enniskillen. He was loud and swearing. He was warned to keep the noise down and stop swearing. However, he persisted and when police gave him a third and final warning he walked away, but about 30 seconds later shouted over to a friend: "Don't talk to those f--king pricks."

The prosecutor said that when the officers approached Dorrian, he ran away.

Defence solicitor, Mr. Bernard Corrigan, said Dorrian was in full-time education and working part-time in Asda. He had turned his life around from when he was "keeping the Youth Court in work on his own" and this was his "first foray" into the adult court.

The Deputy District Judge explained to Dorrian that the court had to be satisfied this offence on its own justified an immediate custodial sentence before triggering the suspended prison sentence he had hanging over him. In this case the disorderly behaviour was "verbal only" and therefore did not justify a custodial sentence.

However, he warning him: "I have seen far too many young men pass through the court who have wasted their lives because they take alcohol and get themselves in trouble."

He told Dorrian that in the Youth Court he was treated as a child but he was now a grown man and the court would deal with him as a grown man. Had he assaulted the police on this occasion he would have been looking at eight months' imprisonment and would have been out if four and lost his job in Asda.

"That's what your are playing for now," stated the Deputy District Judge. "I do not want to see you back here. That's your last chance."
